Course Description

Introduces students to the discipline of economics and centers upon the study of macroeconomics. Students will have the opportunity to learn basic macroeconomic analysis with special emphasis on the determination of national income, prices and inflation, interest rates, employment and unemployment, economic growth, income distribution, international trade and finance, and globalization and development. Topics may include the impact of government taxation, spending and borrowing, and the effect of central bank monetary policy on national & international product, financial, & labor markets. The ideas explored in this course serve as a foundation for and are critically reexamined in subsequent economics courses.
