Course Description

Provides instruction on the methods and materials needed to effectively teach English Learners in bilingual programs. Reviews effective practices for culturally and linguistically sustaining instruction, including considerations for bilingual settings. Introduces the selection, development, and evaluation of materials, resources, curricula, and instructional plans for use in bilingual settings. Emphasis is placed on writing bilingual language objectives and identifying opportunities to support cross-linguistic transfer, translanguaging, the development of bilingualism and biliteracy, and technology to support content and language instruction that meets the diverse needs of multilingual learners.
