Students are immersed in the art of close reading, exploring topics which will vary based on the instructor. Attention is paid to what a text communicates, as well as how it does so through linguistic textures, imagery, narrative patterns, structure, and genre. Students have the opportunity to develop their ability to read and write about a literary text throughout the class.
