Course Description

Focuses on the three pillars of financial economics: resource optimization over time, asset valuation, and risk management. These three pillars represent the “laws” of finance, which students can then utilize to construct a general theory of finance. Students will have the opportunity to gain a broad understanding of financial markets and institutions as well as the most commonly used technics for valuing financial assets like stocks and bonds. Serves as an introduction to derivative markets, with futures, forwards, and options discussed in the context of hedging and risk management. Bloomberg will be a central component of the course.
