Course Description

Examines works representative of the dramatic tradition spanning from the French classical stage to contemporary works written by authors of French expression. The construction of personal or social or national identity is central to our study and our exploration of the complex dynamic that exists between the spaces of performance, reception, and imagination. Some written assignments put emphasis on oral expression, diction, articulation. Students have an opportunity to perform parts of a play as part of their oral exam.
