Course Description

Explores how the physical properties of the brain give rise to mental processes. Students will have the opportunity to investigate current major challenges in neuroscience research such as searching for a cure to Alzheimer's disease, examining the biological basis of memory and investigating the nature of consciousness. While focusing on these challenges, students may learn important fundamental knowledge of neuroscience in the area of genetics, neurotransmission, neural development, brain anatomy, cognition and computational neural modeling.
