Course Description

An analysis of theoretical approaches to the study of the family with an emphasis on changing gender roles. Focuses on diversity among families and how definitions of "the family" are changing to incorporate variations in family structure by social class, ethnic and racial background, and sexual orientation. Topics may include dating, love and romance, cohabitation, marriage and divorce, single-parent families, remarriage, day care, and violence in intimate family relationships.
