An advanced study of the Spanish language examining its history and development from Latin to the phonological and syntactic descriptions found in present-day usage. Topics may include comparative data on Spanish-American and peninsular Spanish, dialectology, sociolinguistics,and idiomatic usage. Linguistic study as applied to literature and pedagogical implications is explored.
