Course Description

Considers different aspects of Indigenous peoples both from the Global South and the Global North. Questions gender and racial constructs in Indigenous communities as well as global activism around gender rights and its multiple intersections. Examines alternative ways of “doing gender” through traditional and Indigenous knowledge systems, transnational connections, decolonial feminisms, among other alternative expressions. Explores the many global aspects of Indigeneity using academic texts, cultural expressions, and Indigenous literature.
