Advanced Placement (AP) Examinations

A student receiving a score of 4 or 5 on the French examination is exempt from course and is considered to have fulfilled the College’s general education language requirement. AP credits in French do not apply to the language-in-context general education requirement.

Requirements for the Minor (20 credits)


The minor requires 20 credits; students who place out of course and/or course should take 20 credits at the upper level. Courses taught in English may not be used toward the minor.

I. Core (8 credits)

Complete all of the following:

  • course - Fundamentals of Oral and Written French II OR course - Fundamentals of Oral French I in Paris

  • course - Intermediate French OR course - Intermediate French in Paris OR course - Intermediate Intensive Conversation in France

II. Upper-Level (12 credits)

Complete 12 additional credits in upper-level French courses.
