Course Description

An introduction to the fundamentals of photographing with digital SLR cameras in manual mode using aperture and shutter to control exposure, depth of field and motion in photographs. Consists of assignments that encourage students to make pictures that are challenging in both content and form. Students may use professional image file workflow, digital editing tools and ink-jet printing to produce original work for class critiques. Introduces the work of influential photographers, considers contemporary issues in the medium and encourages critical evaluation of photographs. Digital SLR camera required, rentals available.
