Course Description

Provides an in-depth analysis of government institutions and socioeconomic choices in health policymaking processes. Introduces the fundamental approaches to public policy and explores how the institutional arrangements of the American government work with respect to the development of health policy. Surveys health policy responses of a range of nations – including OECD countries, BRICS, and other Global South countries – with a comparative perspective. Explains why nations differ in their policy choices, examines the pros and cons of alternative approaches, and draws implications for the U.S. health policy debates.
