Introduces the essential principles of computer systems and architecture. Explains machine-level representation of data, assembly language programming, von Neumann architecture, and the memory hierarchy and pipelining (including instructions, data, and thread level parallelism). Introduces the UNIX operating system from a user’s and programmer’s perspective, as well as C programming, pointers, and UNIX command line tools.
