Program Description

Equips students with an integrated view of the discipline through courses in biological, archaeological, linguistic, and cultural anthropology with attention to laboratory and on-site field methods. The goal of anthropology is to construct a broader, more inclusive, and insightful view of humans/humanity in historical context.
Students who choose the program are encouraged to consider summer field programs, internships, and semester-long academic programs during their junior year. Students planning such programs should consult with a department member as early as possible.
Requisites
Requirements for the Major (44 Credits)
I. Core (20 Credits)
Complete all of the following:
course - Science and the Human Past: Introduction to Archaeology
course - Human Evolution: Biological Anthropology
course - Cultural Diversity: Cultural Anthropology and Linguistics
course - History of Anthropological Theory
course - Ethnographic Research Methods OR course - Archaeological Method and Theory OR course - Human Osteology
II. Electives (24 credits)
Complete 24 credits, selected to include at least one course from three of the following subfields with at least one course at the 300 level:
