Requirements for the Minor (20-24 Credits)
I. Disciplinary Core: Theatre and Dance (8 credits)
Complete the following:
course - Introduction to Acting
Plus six credits from the following:
course - Beginning Movement Studies
course - Intermediate Movement Studies
course - Movement for the Musical Stage
course - Special Topics in Dance
course - Special Topics in Dance
course - Playwriting
II. Interdisciplinary: Performance and Community-Based Learning (12 Credits)
1. At least 4 but no more than 8 credits taken from among the following:
course - Applied Performance: Addressing Sexual Harassment, Violence, and Discrimination through Interactive Performance
course - Theatre in The Community: The Newark Collaboration
course - Special Topics in Applied Performance
2. At least 4 but no more than 8 credits taken from among the following:
course - Advanced Topics in Africana Studies
course - The Non-Profit Sector
course - Leadership in Practice
course - Social Policy and Inequality in America
course - The Practice of Public Sociology
course - Selected Topics: Latin American, Peninsular or Transatlantic Contexts
course - Community Based Learning: The U.S. Latino/a Experience
NOTE: course can be cross-listed with other Drew courses to fulfill the Interdisciplinary requirement, provided students can apply their artistic and/or literary skills to the coursework.
III. Internship (0-4 credits)
Complete one or more internships with an approved organization dedicated to Applied Theatre and Dance, or an approved community partner organization desiring to employ Applied Theatre and Dance projects to fulfill its mission.
