Program Description

Students who earn B or higher in all courses, maintain an overall 3.0 GPA and pass a dispositions assessment will be conditionally admitted to the 4+1 program after passing the state-mandated Praxis Core and Praxis II assessments. After fully matriculating to the MAT program, students complete the remaining requirements of the master’s degree in the 5th year. After the 5th year, students will be eligible for New Jersey teaching certification in either elementary K-6 or a content area (English, math, science, social studies, world language, art, music, business, health). Students are eligible to earn a second certification in either Special Education or English as a Second Language as part of 5th year programming.
