The Accounting program takes a rigorous, integrated, analytic, and critical approach to the study and practice of accounting. The curriculum gives students the tools and skills to analyze domestic and global organizations’ financial health. We stress the importance of data-informed decisions and ethical considerations across the accounting field. Our majors graduate prepared to work in a variety of accounting roles across public and private industries, while helping interested students prepare for the CPA exam and a career as a certified accountant.

Requisites

Requirements of the Major ( 52 Credits)

I. Introduction (24 Credits)

Complete all of the following: 

  • course - Fundamentals of Business (Offered every semester, no prerequisites)

  • course - Economic Principles: Microeconomics (Offered every semester, no prerequisites)

  • course - Introduction to Statistics (Offered every semester, no prerequisites)

  • course - Principles of Finance 

  • course - Fundamentals of Financial Accounting

  • course - Introduction to Computer Science using Python 

II. Core (28 Credits)

Complete all of the following: 

  • course- Managerial Accounting

  • course - Accounting Information Systems

  • course - Intermediate Accounting I

  • course - Intermediate Accounting II

  • course - Auditing 

  • course - Taxation 

  • course - Accounting Theory and Practice
